Pump Assembly: Assembly

  1. Using the special tool, install the front oil pump seal.

  2. Install the oil pump housing O-ring.
    • Lubricate the O-ring with Motorcraft MERCON® Multi-Purpose (ATF) Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON®.

  3. Fill the oil pump housing with Motorcraft MERCON® Multi-Purpose (ATF) Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON® to prime the pump.
  4. CAUTION: Do not allow the splines of the oil pump to damage the oil pump cover seal. Wrapping of the splines may be necessary.
  5. Install the oil pump cover.
    • Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence.
