Pump Assembly: Assembly

Using the special tool, install the front oil pump seal.

Install the oil pump housing O-ring.
- Lubricate the O-ring with Motorcraft MERCON® Multi-Purpose (ATF) Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON®.

Fill the oil pump housing with Motorcraft MERCON® Multi-Purpose (ATF) Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON® to prime the pump.

CAUTION: Do not allow the splines of the oil pump to damage the oil pump cover seal. Wrapping of the splines may be necessary.

Install the oil pump cover.
- Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence.
