Function Control
When MAX A/C is selected, air inlet duct door is positioned by actuator to close off outside air and admit only recirculated air. Panel/defrost doors are configured to direct airflow to instrument panel registers. Temperature is set by actuator positioning temperature blend door per electrical voltage output from control. Air will be picked up at recirculated opening by blower motor. With A/C control set for maximum cold, airflow across A/C evaporator core will be diverted past heater core and then directed into passenger compartment through instrument panel A/C registers. There is also some airflow to floor outlets. Compressor will be enabled when MAX A/C is selected. Blower motor is on.
When VENT is selected, air inlet duct door is positioned by actuator to close off recirculated air and admit only outside air. Panel/defrost/floor doors are configured to direct airflow to instrument panel registers. Discharge air temperature is set by actuator positioning temperature blend door per electrical voltage output from control. Air will be picked up at cowl air opening by blower motor. With A/C control set for maximum cold, air flows across A/C evaporator core, will be diverted past heater core and then directed into passenger compartment through instrument panel A/C registers. There is also some airflow to floor outlets. Compressor can be enabled in VENT by depressing A/C button on control. Blower motor is on.
When OFF is selected, A/C inlet duct door is positioned by actuator to close off outside air and admit only recirculated air. Floor/panel door and panel/defrost door are configured to direct airflow to outlet floor ducts. Blower motor and compressor are off.
When PANEL/FLOOR is selected, air inlet duct door is positioned by actuator to block recirculated air and admit only outside air. Floor/panel doors are configured to direct airflow to floor duct, and instrument panel A/C registers. Discharge air temperature is set by actuator positioning temperature blend door per electrical voltage output from control. Air will be picked up at cowl air opening by blower motor. With A/C control set at a mid cool position, air flows across A/C evaporator core. A portion of air is diverted past heater core while a portion of air flows across heater core. Combined air flow is then directed into passenger compartment through instrument panel A/C register and floor outlets. Compressor can be enabled in PANEL/FLOOR by depressing A/C button on control. Blower motor is on.
