Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) System: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Windstar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Improper positioning of OCS during assembly may damage OCS components. OCS component failure may result. When positioning OCS and seat cushion frame, ensure OCS is not damaged during procedure.
NOTE:
OCS is found only on right front seat. In addition, OCS is not installed on all models. A white tag having the letters "OCS" will appear under the front of right front seat, identifying seat equipped with OCS.
OCS system components (seat cushion foam pad, bladder with pressure sensor and electronic control unit) are calibrated to each other. OCS system components are not to be installed separately. If OCS component requires being replaced, all components must replaced as an assembly.
If replacing front passenger seat trim cushion trim cover only, OCS must be zeroed.

An original equipment OCS will have electrical connectors that can be disconnected at OCS pressure sensor and OCS electronic control module. Also, OCS will have seat cushion foam pad that is not attached to bladder and pressure sensor assembly. A service part OCS will have electrical disconnect deterrents at OCS pressure sensor and OCS electronic control module.
