Key Programming - Additional Key With One Programmed Key

NOTE: This procedure is used when a customer needs an additional key programmed into system and does not have 2 programmed ignition keys available, or when attempting to determine if an ignition key is defective. A new key can be added without erasing keys or having 2 programmed keys available. This procedure will program one additional ignition key, unless 8 keys have been programmed. Ignition keys must have correct mechanical key cut for vehicle and must be an encoded key.
  1. Turn ignition switch from OFF to ON position using new, unprogrammed key. With NGS/WDS tester connected to vehicle, enter function test menu. Select SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE. This procedure will take 10 minutes to perform.
  2. After security access procedure has been completed, a new menu will be displayed with command options. Select IGNITION KEY CODE PROGRAM. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and disconnect NGS/WDS tester. Attempt to start engine with new ignition key. Vehicle should start and run.
