Test K: Trunk Lid Inoperative Using Remote Transmitter

  1. Depress trunk lid release switch. If trunk lid does not open, go to next step. If trunk lid opens, go to step  8 .
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 18-pin Driver Door Module (DDM) harness connector C519. DDM is located in driver's door. Measure resistance between ground and DDM harness connector C519 terminal No. 13 (White/Violet wire) while pressing trunk lid release switch. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step  5 .
  3. Disconnect 3-pin trunk lid release switch harness connector C478. Measure resistance of White/Violet wire between DDM harness connector C519 terminal No. 13 and trunk lid release switch harness connector terminal No. 1. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on White/Violet wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Measure resistance between ground and trunk lid release switch harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace trunk lid release switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on Black wire between trunk lid release switch and ground point. Ground point is located on right kick panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  5. Momentarily connect a fused (10-amp) jumper wire between battery positive post and DDM 18-pin harness connector C519 terminal No. 7 (Purple/Yellow wire). See Figure . If trunk lid does not open, go to next step. If trunk lid opens, go to step  9 .
  6. Disconnect 3-pin trunk lid release solenoid harness connector C478. Measure resistance of Violet/Yellow wire between DDM harness connector C519 terminal No. 7 and trunk lid release solenoid harness connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on Violet/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  7. Measure resistance between ground and trunk lid release solenoid harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace trunk lid release solenoid. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair open on Black wire between replace trunk lid release solenoid and point. Ground point is located on right kick panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  8. Program remote transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. Depress remote transmitter trunk lid open button. If trunk lid opens, system is okay at this time. If trunk lid does not open, go to next step.
  9. Disconnect all DDM harness connectors. Check all harness connector and DDM harness connectors and terminals. Repair as necessary. Connect all harness connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace DDM. If problem does not exist, test is complete.
