Removal And Installation

    CAUTION: Prior to removal of the generic electronic module (GEM), it is necessary to upload module configuration information to the diagnostic tool. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed. For additional information, refer to PROGRAMMABLE MODULE INSTALLATION .
  1. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .
  2. Remove the radio chassis.
  3. Remove the center instrument panel finish panel.
    1. Remove the screws.
    2. Remove the center instrument panel finish panel.
      • Disconnect electrical connectors.

  4. Remove the generic electronic module (GEM).
    1. Remove the screw.
    2. Disconnect the two connectors from the GEM.
    3. Remove the GEM.

  5. CAUTION: Once the new module is installed, it is necessary to download the module configuration information from the diagnostic tool into the new module. For additional information, refer to PROGRAMMABLE MODULE INSTALLATION .
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Check for correct operation.
