Test D: Horizontal Movement Inoperative

  1. Disconnect horizontal seat height motor harness connector C311, located under driver's seat. Measure resistance between ground and horizontal seat height motor harness connector C311Yellow/White wire terminal. Measure resistance between ground and horizontal seat height motor harness connector C311 Red/White wire terminal. If either resistance reading is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If both resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, go to step  3 .
  2. Disconnect 8-pin seat control switch harness connector C312. Measure resistance of Red/White wire between horizontal seat height motor harness connector C311 and seat control switch harness connector C312 terminal No. 3. See Figure . Measure resistance of Yellow/White wire between horizontal seat height motor harness connector C311 and seat control switch harness connector C312 terminal No. 8. If both resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, replace seat control switch. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . If either resistance reading is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire between horizontal seat height motor and seat control switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Disconnect seat control switch harness connector C312. Measure resistance between ground and horizontal seat height motor harness connector C311 Red/White wire terminal. Measure resistance between ground and horizontal seat height motor harness connector C311 Yellow/White wire terminal. If both resistance readings are more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If either resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in appropriate wire between horizontal seat height motor and seat control switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Connect seat control switch harness connector C312. Measure voltage between ground and horizontal seat height motor harness connector C311 Red/White wire terminal while pressing seat control switch to rearward position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace seat control switch. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .
  5. Measure voltage between ground and horizontal seat height motor harness connector C311 Yellow/White wire terminal while pressing seat control switch to forward position. If battery voltage exists, replace seat track assembly. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . If battery voltage does not exist, replace seat control switch.
