Test C: Switch Logic Malfunction

  1. Remove door trim panel on side of vehicle with malfunctioning mirror. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Disconnect malfunctioning mirror harness connector. Measure voltage or resistance between ground and appropriate terminal of mirror harness connector with mirror control switch in appropriate position. See MIRROR CONTROL CIRCUIT SPECIFICATIONS  table. If voltage and/or resistance readings are not as specified, go to next step. If voltage and/or resistance readings are as specified, replace appropriate mirror motor.
    MIRROR CONTROL CIRCUIT SPECIFICATIONS

    Terminal Switch Position Value
    Driver's Mirror
Red Wire Driver's Mirror Left More Than 10 Volts
Red Wire Driver's Mirror Right 5 Ohms Or Less

  2. Remove mirror control switch to access harness connector. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Do not disconnect mirror control switch harness connector. Backprobing mirror control switch harness connector, measure voltage or resistance between ground and appropriate terminal of mirror control switch harness connector with mirror control switch in appropriate position. See REAR VIEW MIRROR CONTROL CIRCUIT LOGIC TESTING  table. If voltage and/or resistance is not as specified, repair appropriate circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage and/or resistance is as specified, replace mirror control switch.
