Test I: No Module/Network Communication - No Power To NGS Through Data Link Connector
- Inspect New Generation Star (NGS) tester connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If NGS tester connector is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Inspect 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. DLC is located below steering column. Repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If DLC connector is okay, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and DLC terminal No. 16 (Orange wire). See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short in Orange wire between central junction box and DLC. Repair as necessary, then retest system for normal operation.
- Measure resistance between ground and DLC terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Black/White wire). If resistances are less than 5 ohms, repair or replace NGS tester. Retest system for normal operation. If any resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire and/or Black/White wire between ground and DLC. Ground point is located on front left side of vehicle floor. Retest system for normal operation.
