Disposal Procedures: Notes

NOTE: Disposal of undeployed air bag may violate federal, state and/or local laws. If scrapping vehicle, air bags must be deployed while mounted in vehicle. If this is not possible, remove air bag and deploy remotely. If air bag cannot be deployed, contact vehicle manufacturer for further instructions.

Air bag disposal may be necessary in following situations:

AIR BAG DISPOSAL PROCEDURES

Condition Instructions
Module/pretensioner replacement
Deployed (1) Dispose of in usual manner
Faulty but live (2) Return for disposal
Vehicle to be scrapped
Deployed module/pretensioner (1) Dispose of in usual manner
Live module/pretensioner (3) Deploy air bag
