Key Programming Switch State Control: Programming

NOTE:
The spare key programming switch is a diagnostic tool programmable switch which provides the capability to enable/disable the customer spare key programming procedure. For additional information, refer to the Owner's Literature programming spare keys procedure or Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys . This programmable switch is provided as a convenience for customers who may not want the spare key programming procedure available to the vehicle driver.
NOTE:
The spare key programming switch state can be viewed by PID SPARE_KY.
- Insert a programmed ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Using the diagnostic tool, select PCM from the menu. Select SECURITY ACCESS to obtain security access. For additional information, refer to the ANTI-THEFT SECURITY ACCESS .
- Once in security access, from the diagnostic tool menu, select SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING SWITCH, and then select the desired setting:
< ENABLE > The spare key programming procedure is accessible.
< DISABLE > The spare key programming procedure is not accessible.
NOTE:
The default setting on delivery of all new vehicles is < ENABLE >.
