Key Programming Switch State Control: Programming

NOTE: The spare key programming switch is a diagnostic tool programmable switch which provides the capability to enable/disable the customer spare key programming procedure. For additional information, refer to the Owner's Literature programming spare keys procedure or Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys . This programmable switch is provided as a convenience for customers who may not want the spare key programming procedure available to the vehicle driver.
NOTE: The spare key programming switch state can be viewed by PID SPARE_KY.
  1. Insert a programmed ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the ignition switch to ON.
  2. Using the diagnostic tool, select PCM from the menu. Select SECURITY ACCESS to obtain security access. For additional information, refer to the ANTI-THEFT SECURITY ACCESS .
  3. NOTE: The default setting on delivery of all new vehicles is < ENABLE >.
  4. Once in security access, from the diagnostic tool menu, select SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING SWITCH, and then select the desired setting:

    < ENABLE > The spare key programming procedure is accessible.

    < DISABLE > The spare key programming procedure is not accessible.
