Test C: No Communication With Remote Keyless Entry Module

  1. Remove and inspect fuse No. 6 (15-amp) from central junction box, located behind left side of instrument panel. Measure voltage at input side of fuse No. 6. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Tan/Black wire between central junction box and battery junction box. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module harness connector. See Figure . Measure voltage between ground and RKE module harness connector terminal No. 11 (Light Green/Violet wire). See Figure . If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Light Green/Violet wire between RKE module and central junction box.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and RKE module harness connector terminal No. 8 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair network communications. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire between RKE module and ground point. Ground point is located behind left kick panel.
