Power Sliding Door REINITIALIZATION Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Ford Windstar and 1999 Ford Windstar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Power Sliding Door (PSD) position settings will be lost if battery is disconnected or if power is removed from right and/or left PSD module. Reinitialization procedure must be successfully performed to restore position settings memory. If power is lost to only one PSD module, only effected PSD will need to be reinitialialized.
  2. Ensure each PSD is fully closed, securely latched and unlocked. Ensure vehicle is in Park position and fuel filler door is closed. Switch overhead console PSD on/off switch to ON position.
  3. Press overhead console PSD open/close buttons to open PSDs. Observe PSD from closed to opened position for normal operation. After PSD is fully open, and stopped, go to next step.
  4. Press overhead console PSD open/close buttons to close PSDs. Observe PSD for proper operation from open to closed position. When PSDs are completely and properly closed, initialization is complete. If any PSD does not operate properly, see POWER SLIDING DOORS - WINDSTAR article.
