Test A: No Communication With Front Electronic Module (Fem)

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect FEM connectors. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at FEM connector C346 terminal No. 1 (Light Blue/Red wire). See Figure . Also, measure voltage at FEM connector C190 terminal No. 6 (Red wire). See Figure . If all readings are more than 10 volts, go to next step. If any reading is 10 volts or less, locate and repair appropriate power supply circuit. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between ground and FEM connector C190 terminal No. 12 (Black wire). See Figure . Also, measure resistance between ground and connector C192 Black wire terminals No. 11, 13, 14 and 15. See Figure . If all readings are less than 5 ohms, repair network concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If any reading is 5 ohms or more, locate and repair open in Black wire between appropriate connector and ground.
