Test I: Panic Feature Inoperative From Remote

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Ford Windstar and 1999 Ford Windstar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, monitor FEM PID display for AL_EVTI, while depressing PANIC button on remote transmitter. If FEM PID for AL_EVTI display reads AL_EVTIPANIC?, go to appropriate ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS article. If display is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Verify number of TICs stored. Using scan tool, monitor RKE module function test for TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA, and record 8-digit alpha-numeric codes. If there are 2 TICs stored in any individual memory locations (TIC1, TIC2, TIC3 or TIC4), go to next step. If 2 identical TICs are not stored in an individual memory location, reprogram all remote transmitters. See PROGRAMMING  .
  3. Monitor RKE module function test while depressing addition remote transmitter panic button. Verify LAST TIC RECEIVED and LAST DATA RECEIVED. If information matches remote transmitter button being depressed, go to step  5 . If last code received or last data received information does not match, go to next step.
  4. Repeat previous procedure for each separate remote transmitter. If a remote transmitter is still inoperative, and 8-digit alpha-numeric code and last data received matches, then replace remote transmitter batteries and reprogram transmitters. See PROGRAMMING  . Replace transmitter as necessary. If information is not correct, go to next step.
  5. Verify if LAST TIC RECEIVED is one of the TICs recorded in step  2 matches one of the codes from step  3 . If a code matches, go to next step. If LAST TIC RECEIVED does not match recorded codes, program NEW remote transmitter. See PROGRAMMING  .
  6. Monitor RKE module for TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA while depressing each button of remote transmitter. If values agree with output value displayed when each remote transmitter button is depressed, replace RKE module. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If values do not agree, program ALL transmitters. See PROGRAMMING  .
