Section 272 (Engine): Installation: Engine: Installation

  1. Install the flywheel.
    • Install the bolts.

  2. Install the engine on the subframe assembly.
  3. Install the bolts.

  4. Install the RH engine mount nut.

  5. Install the LH engine mount bolts.

  6. Install the six bellhousing bolts.

  7. Remove the special tools.
  8. Install the transmission oil level indicator and tube.
    • Install the bolt.

  9. Install the hose retainer.

  10. Connect the power steering pressure line.

  11. Position the harness connector.

  12. Connect the electrical connectors.

  13. Install the wiring harness pin-type retainer.

  14. Connect the transaxle electrical connectors.

  15. Position the wiring harness pin-type retainer.

  16. Position the electrical connector.

  17. Install the four torque converter nuts.

  18. Install the inspection cover (7007).
    • Install the bolt.

  19. Install the starter. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  20. Using the special tool, raise the engine, transmission and subframe assembly in the vehicle.

  21. Install the four subframe bolts.

  22. Install the RH and LH strut bolts.

  23. Connect the RH and LH front stabilizer links.
    • Install the two nuts.

  24. Connect the ABS electrical connector.

  25. Install the ABS sensor wiring harness retainer.

  26. Install the brake calipers.
    • Install the bolts.

  27. Install the wheels. For additional information, refer to WHEELS & TIRES .
  28. Connect the lower radiator hose.
    • Connect the hose.
    • Position the clamp.

  29. Install the dual converter Y-pipe assembly. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM .
  30. Connect the steering column.
    • Slide the joint downward.
    • Install the bolt.

  31. Position the dust boot.

  32. Connect the transmission oil cooler tubes.
    • Connect the tubes.
    • Install the clips.

  33. Position the hose.
    • Install the pin-type retainers.

  34. Install the hose.

  35. Connect the power steering oil cooler hose.
    • Position the clamp.

  36. Connect the power steering oil cooler hose.
    • Position the clamp.

  37. Connect the A/C suction/discharge manifold.
    • Tighten the bolt.

  38. Install a new tie strap.

  39. Connect the ground connector.

  40. Install the sight shield.
    • Install the pin-type retainers.

  41. Connect the positive cable.
    • Install the nut.

  42. Connect the hose.

  43. Connect the heater hose.
    • Position the clamp.

  44. Connect the ground connector.
    • Install the bolt.

  45. Connect the fuel lines. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  46. Position the wire harness.

  47. Connect the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR .
  48. Position the fuel line retaining clip.

  49. Connect the degas bottle hose.
    • Position the clamp.

  50. Connect the power steering hose.
    • Position the clamp.

  51. Connect the main engine wire harness ground.
    • Install the bolt.

  52. Connect the PCM.
    • Tighten the bolt.

  53. Install the pin-type retainer.

  54. Connect the EVAP canister purge valve.
    • Connect the vacuum tube.

  55. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose.
    • Position the clamp.

  56. Connect the EVAP emission return tube.

  57. Position the shift cable.
    • Connect the shift cable to the shift cable bracket.

  58. Connect the shift cable.

  59. Connect the engine wire harness 42-pin connector.
    • Tighten the bolt.

  60. Install the heater hose.
    • Position the bracket.
    • Install the nut.

  61. Connect the upper radiator hose.
    • Reposition the clamp.

  62. Connect the heater hose.

  63. Install the accelerator bracket.
    • Position the bracket.
    • Install the bolt.
    • Install the nut.

  64. Connect the accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable.

  65. Install the engine air cleaner and outlet tube.
  66. Connect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  67. Refill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  68. Recharge the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  69. Install the cowl. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
