Disabling Unlimited Key Mode

NOTE:
By disabling the unlimited key mode, the previous access code no longer operates the vehicle.
- From the scan tool, follow the on-screen instructions to ENTER SECURITY ACCESS. For additional information, refer to Anti-Theft Security Access in this article.
- Select: "unlimited key mode OFF" and press the tick mark.
- Select: "Ignition Key Code Erase" and press the tick mark.
- Disconnect the scan tool and turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Insert the first PATS key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the key to the ON position for 3 seconds.
- Remove the first PATS key from the ignition lock cylinder.
- Insert the next PATS key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the key to the ON position for 3 seconds.
- If it is desired to program an additional key(s), refer to Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys in this article for each additional key that needs to be programmed. The PID SPAREKEY must be enabled.
NOTE:
With the unlimited key mode turned off, a maximum of 8 keys can be programmed into the PCM. For additional information, refer to Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys in this article. The PID SPAREKEY must be enabled.
