- Perform on-demand self-test
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See USING SCAN TOOL under DIAGNOSTICS. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Retrieve and record any continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). See RETRIEVING FAULT CODES under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform on-demand self-test. See ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST under DIAGNOSTICS. If DTC B2477 was retrieved during on-demand self-test, go to next step. If DTC B2477 was not retrieved during on-demand self-test, DTC B2477 is continuous fault. Perform RCM configuration. See RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) CONFIGURATION under DIAGNOSTICS. - Check vehicle for correct part content
Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Check part numbers of RCM, right front seat cushion and right and left front seat backs against numbers listed in master parts catalog. If part numbers match part numbers listed in master parts catalog, go to next step. If part numbers DO NOT match part numbers listed in master parts catalog, replace incorrect parts as necessary. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Clear all DTCs. See CLEARING FAULT CODES under DIAGNOSTICS. - Check RCM module
Perform RCM configuration. Perform on-demand self-test. If DTC B2477 was retrieved during on-demand self-test, replace RCM. See RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Activate air bag system. Clear all DTCs. If DTC B2477 was not retrieved during on-demand self-test, fault is corrected. Activate air bag system. Clear all DTCs.
