Restraints Control Module (RCM) (Service Part OCS): Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Town Car. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Improper RCM orientation may cause air bag system malfunction. Personal injury may result. RCM orientation is critical for proper air bag system operation. If RCM mounting and bracket have been damaged, RCM must be replaced even if air bags have not deployed. RCM center tunnel mounting area must be restored to original condition, if damaged. Replace or repair any other damaged air bag system components or wiring that are adjacent to RCM.
CAUTION: Static electricity can damage RCM internal components. RCM malfunction may result. Ensure RCM is protected from static electrical charges.
NOTE: When a new RCM is first installed in vehicle, module configuration must be performed. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B2477 will be stored in RCM memory and will flash Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 54 on AIR BAG warning light. DTC B2477 cannot be cleared from RCM memory until model configuration is performed. See RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) CONFIGURATION  under DIAGNOSTICS. It is important that you connect the scan tool to the vehicle and obtain configuration data prior to removing an modules.
