Passive Anti-Theft System Control Module
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Ford Excursion and 2000 Ford Excursion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) control module contains circuitry to interface with vehicle electrical system, transceiver module, Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) communications network system and THEFT indicator. PATS control module stores ignition key codes in non-volatile memory. PATS control module can be diagnosed through Data Link Connector (DLC). After receiving key code during a start sequence, PATS control module sends this data to Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If PATS control module requires replacement, special procedures are included in this article. See PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
