Pinpoint Test I: The Video System Is Inoperative

- I1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE AT DVD PLAYER
- Disconnect: DVD Player C949.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the DVD player C949-;, circuit 1001 (WH/YE), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to I2.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- I2 CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUITS TO THE DVD PLAYER
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the DVD player C949-3, circuit 1205 (BK), harness side and ground; and between the DVD player C949-16, circuit 1203 (BK/LB), harness side and ground.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to I3.
- No : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
- I3 CHECK THE WAKE-UP SIGNAL TO THE DVD PLAYER
- Key in ON position.
- Turn on the audio unit.
- Measure the voltage between the DVD player C949-20, circuit 1068 (LG/BK), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- Yes : GO to I4.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- I4 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION CIRCUITS BETWEEN THE DVD PLAYER AND THE AUDIO UNIT
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the DVD player, harness side and the audio unit, harness side; and between the DVD player, harness side and ground as follows:DVD PLAYER & AUDIO UNIT CONNECTOR REFERENCE
DVD Player Connector-Pin DM100 Connector-Pin CD6 Connector-Pin Circuit C949-18 C240a-6 C290b-7 832 (LB/PK) C949-19 C240a-7 C290b-6 833 (TN) - Are the resistances less than 5 ohms between the DVD player and the audio unit, and greater than 10,000 ohms between the DVD player and ground?
- Yes : INSTALL a new DVD player. REFER to DIGITAL VERSATILE DISC (DVD) PLAYER . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
