Test C: Switch Logic Malfunction

NOTE: Perform all voltage and resistance tests using a Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
  1. Remove door trim panel on side of vehicle with malfunctioning power mirror. See DOOR TRIM PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect malfunctioning mirror 3-pin harness connectors (driver's side C516) or (passenger's side C622). See Figure. Measure voltage or resistance between ground and appropriate terminal of mirror harness connector with power mirror control switch in appropriate position. See MIRROR CONTROL CIRCUIT SPECIFICATIONS  table. If voltage and/or resistance are not as specified, go to next step. If voltage and/or resistance are as specified, replace appropriate power mirror motor. See SIDE POWER MIRROR GLASS & MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, test system for normal operation.
    MIRROR CONTROL CIRCUIT SPECIFICATIONS

Terminal & Wire Color Switch Position Measurement Value
    Driver's Mirror
No. 1 (Red Wire) Left More Than 10 Volts
No. 1 (Red Wire) Right 5 Ohms Or Less
No. 2 (Dark Blue Wire) Up More Than 10 Volts
No. 2 (Dark Blue Wire) Down 5 Ohms Or Less
No. 3 (Yellow Wire) Left Or Up 5 Ohms Or Less
No. 3 (Yellow Wire) Right Or Down More Than 10 Volts
    Passenger's Mirror
No. 2 (Dark Green Wire) Left More Than 10 Volts
No. 2 (Dark Green Wire) Right 5 Ohms Or Less
No. 1 (Violet Wire) Up More Than 10 Volts
No. 1 (Violet Wire) Down 5 Ohms Or Less
No. 3 (Yellow Wire) Left Or Up 5 Ohms Or Less
No. 3 (Yellow Wire) Right Or Down More Than 10 Volts
  2. Remove power mirror control switch to access harness connector. See POWER MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Do not disconnect mirror control switch harness connector. Backprobing mirror control switch 8-pin harness connector C537 and measuring voltage or resistance between ground and appropriate terminal of mirror control switch harness connector, with mirror control switch in appropriate position. See REAR VIEW MIRROR CONTROL CIRCUIT LOGIC TESTING  table. If voltage and/or resistance is as specified, replace mirror control switch. If voltage and/or resistance is not as specified, repair appropriate circuit. For POWER MIRROR circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, test system for normal operation.
