Dual Automatic Temperature Control
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lincoln Town Car. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
With the use of a microcontroller, the climate control assembly (DATC module) analyzes input from the following major sources:
- Temperature, function and blower selection (made by the vehicle occupants)
- In-vehicle temperature sensor
- Ambient temperature sensor
- Solar amplifier (sunload sensor)
- Vehicle speed sensor
- Cylinder head temperature sensor
Using these inputs, the climate control assembly (DATC module) determines the correct conditions for the following outputs:
- A/C clutch engagement
- Blower speed
- Air temperature blend door position
- Floor door position
- Panel/defrost door position
- Air inlet duct door position
