Engine and Radiator Flushing: Material

  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
  2. Remove the water thermostat (8575). For additional information, refer to THERMOSTAT .
  3. Install the water hose connection (8592) without the water thermostat.
  4. NOTE: Refer to the manufacturer's operating instructions for specific vehicle hook-up.
  5. Using an appropriate cooling system flusher, flush the engine and radiator.

    Use cooling system flush for vehicles filled with premium engine coolant (green color) or premium gold engine coolant (yellow color).

  6. Install the water thermostat. For additional information, refer to THERMOSTAT .
  7. Backflush the heater core (18476) if necessary. For additional information, refer to HEATER CORE BACKFLUSHING .
  8. Fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
