Diagnostic Procedures
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
If any TP sensor DTC is also set, diagnose that DTC first. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS
.
- Start engine. Rev engine up and down RPM band a couple of times while using scan tool to monitor status of DTC P1515. If DTC P1515 has run and failed LAST TEST, go to next step. If DTC P1515 has not run and failed LAST TEST, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Turn ignition on, engine off. Disconnect throttle actuator control module harness connector. Disconnect ECM J2 connector. Using DVOM, check continuity between throttle actuator control connector terminal "F" (Yellow wire) and ground. Check continuity between throttle actuator control connector terminals "E" (Brown wire) and "F" (Yellow wire). If continuity exists in either test, repair short in Yellow wire between Brown wire or ground. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Yellow wire and Brown wire between ECM and throttle actuator control module. If resistance is more than 2 ohms in either test, repair open in affected wire. If resistance is less than 2 ohms in both tests, go to next step.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage at throttle actuator control module connector terminals "E" (Brown wire) and "F" (Yellow wire). If voltage is more than 4.5 volts on either test, repair short to voltage or 5-volt reference on affected wire. If voltage is not more than 4.5 volts on either test, replace ECM.
