Removal And Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the instrument panel side trim.

  3. Remove the cowl side trim panel.

  4. Remove the glove box.

  5. Remove the passenger side lower footwell trim panel.

  6. Remove the generic electronic module (GEM).
    1. Remove the two retaining nuts.
    2. Remove the GEM module and the bracket and position aside.

  7. Disconnect the powertrain control (PCM) module electrical connectors and remove the PCM.

  8. CAUTION: Make sure that the PCM electrical connectors do not unlock when installing the GEM module.
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
