Shift Control Housing: Disassembly

  1. Remove and discard the roll pins.

  2. Remove the shift shaft.
    • Remove the shift pawl.
    • Remove the shift shaft.

  3. If required remove the shift shaft seal.

  4. NOTE: Place the shift cam index pin in the small gate towards the reverse shifter lever.
    NOTE: The roll pin will not remove completely and will be retained in the shift cam and must be bottomed out on the shifter housing.

  5. Remove the roll pin.
  6. Pry back the spring retainer and remove the circlip.

  7. Pry back the spring retainer and remove the circlip.

  8. NOTE: Note the position of the shifter components for reference during assembly.
    NOTE: Cover the shifter components with a shop rag to prevent loss during removal of the shift rod.

  9. Remove the shift rod.
  10. Remove the shift cam and spring assemblies.

  11. Remove the shift gate.
