Lower Intake Manifold: Removal

- Remove the intake manifold spacer assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD - SPACER ASSEMBLY .
- Disconnect the EGR valve vacuum hose.
- Remove the EGR valve tube upper fitting.
- Remove the radiator upper hose from the lower intake manifold. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Disconnect the water bypass hose (8597) and the heater water hose (18472).
- Disconnect the fuel lines. For additional information, refer to FUEL TANK & LINES-GASOLINE & DIESEL or FUEL TANK & LINES-NATURAL GAS .
- Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the fuel injector electrical harness from the fuel injector supply manifold.
- Disconnect the IMRC electrical connector and the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line.
- Remove the (A) long lower intake manifold bolts, (B) the short lower intake manifold bolts and remove the lower intake manifold.
- Remove and discard the lower intake manifold sealing components:
- Intake manifold gasket (9441) (LH)
- Intake manifold gasket (9439) (RH)
- Intake manifold rear end seal
- Intake manifold front end seal
WARNING:
Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.
