Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Mercury Milan, 2010 Lincoln MKZ, and 2010 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Electronic modules are sensitive to electrical charges. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module can be damaged if exposed to these charges.
NOTE: Do not allow any brake fluid or foreign material to enter the mating side of the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module or damage to the solenoids can occur.
  1. If a new ABS module is being installed, connect the scan tool and upload the module configuration from the ABS module. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
  2. Remove the degas bottle. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.
  4. Remove the 4 ABS module screws and the ABS module.
    • To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    NOTE: Visually inspect the ABS module terminals for damage before installation.
  6. If a new ABS module was installed, download the module configuration information from the scan tool. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
