Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: It is necessary to upload module configuration oft Central Security Module (CSM) to New Generation STAR (NGS) tester, or equivalent scan tool, prior to module replacement. After new module is installed download configuration to new module.
NOTE: Failure to disconnect Central Security Module (CSM) harness connectors in specified order will cause a false PID and possible diagnostic trouble code. Disconnect harness connector C274b then C274a. When connecting CSM, connect C274a then C274b.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove left front door sill plate. Remove left side kick panel trim. Disconnect Central Security Module (CSM) harness connector C274b then C274a. CSM is located behind left side of instrument panel. Disconnect wiring harness connectors (Black 22-pin and Black 26-pin). Remove nuts and CSM. To install, reverse removal procedure.
