Engine Mounts: Installation

  1. Position the engine mounts and install the bolts.
  2. Install the starter motor if the RH engine mount was repaired. Refer to STARTERS .
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Using a floor crane, remove the Heavy Duty Engine Support.

  5. Lower the engine and align the engine mount studs.
  6. Remove the floor crane.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle.
  8. Install the nuts.

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Remove the Modular Engine Support Bracket from the engine.

  11. Install the generator. Refer to GENERATORS & REGULATORS .
  12. Install the fan shroud.
  13. Install the throttle body adapter
    • Position a new throttle body adapter gasket.
    • Position the throttle body adapter.
    • Install four bolts and tighten in two stages:
      • Stage 1: Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
      • Stage 2: Tighten an additional 85-95 degrees.

  14. NOTE: The EGR valve is shown removed for clarity.

  15. If equipped, connect the EVR solenoid electrical and vacuum harness.
  16. If equipped, connect the EGR valve vacuum line.

  17. If equipped, install the EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube.
    • Hand-tighten the fittings.
    • Tighten the upper fitting to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
    • Tighten the lower fitting to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).

  18. If equipped, install the EGR transducer bracket.
    • Position the bracket.
    • Install the bolts.

  19. If equipped, connect the EGR transducer vacuum lines.

  20. If equipped, connect the EGR transducer and the throttle position sensor connectors.

  21. Connect the heater hose.

  22. Connect the idle air control motor electrical connector and the bypass hose.

  23. Connect the vacuum line.

  24. Connect the following vacuum lines:
    • brake booster
    • engine sensor control wiring harness

  25. Connect the PCV vacuum and coolant hoses.

  26. Install the accelerator cable bracket.
    • Position the bracket and cables.
    • Install the bolts.

  27. Connect the accelerator and speed control cables and return spring.

  28. Install the accelerator cable splash shield.

  29. Install the air cleaner outlet tube.
  30. Connect the battery ground cable.
  31. Connect the upper radiator hose to the radiator.
  32. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
  33. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to ENGINE COOLING .
