Engine Mounts: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Partially drain the radiator and disconnect the upper radiator hose at the radiator.
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
  4. Remove the accelerator cable splash shield.

  5. Disconnect the accelerator and speed control cables and return spring.

  6. Position the accelerator cable bracket aside.
    • Remove the bolts.
    • Position the bracket and cables aside.

  7. Disconnect the PCV vacuum and coolant hoses.

  8. Disconnect the following vacuum lines:
    • brake booster
    • engine sensor control wiring harness

  9. Disconnect the vacuum line.

  10. Disconnect the idle air control motor electrical connector and the bypass hose.

  11. Disconnect the heater hose.

  12. If equipped, disconnect the EGR transducer and the throttle position sensor connectors.

  13. If equipped, disconnect the EGR transducer vacuum lines.

  14. If equipped, disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve-to-exhaust manifold tube lower fitting.

  15. If equipped, remove the EGR transducer bracket.

  16. If equipped, remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.
    • Disconnect the upper fitting.
    • Remove the tube.

  17. If equipped, disconnect the EGR valve vacuum line.

  18. NOTE: The EGR valve is shown removed for clarity.

  19. If equipped, disconnect the EVR solenoid electrical and vacuum harness.
  20. Remove the throttle body adapter:
    • Remove the four bolts.
    • Remove the throttle body adapter.
    • Remove the throttle body adapter gasket.

  21. Remove the two screws at the top of the fan shroud and position the fan shroud toward the engine.
  22. Remove the generator. Refer to GENERATORS & REGULATORS .
  23. Install the Modular Engine Support Bracket on the engine using the generator mounting holes.

  24. Raise and support the vehicle.
  25. Remove the nuts.

  26. Lower the vehicle.
  27. Raise the engine using a floor crane.
  28. Support the engine using the Heavy Duty Engine Support.

  29. Raise and support the vehicle.
  30. Remove the starter motor if the RH engine mount is to be repaired. Refer to STARTERS .

  32. Remove the bolts and remove the engine mounts from the vehicle.
