Removal & Installation

Remove fuel tank assembly. See FUEL TANK . Clean area around fuel pump mounting flange. Disconnect fuel line fittings from fuel pump module. See Fig 1. If repair or installation of new fuel lines or a new electrical harness is necessary, remove fuel lines or harness from fuel tank retaining clips and remove appropriate assembly.

CAUTION: Fuel pump module must be handled carefully to avoid damage to float arm and filter.

Using Fuel Tank Sender Unit Wrench (310-069), remove fuel pump module retaining ring. See Fig 2. Remove fuel pump module from fuel tank. Ensure areas around fuel pump mounting area and fuel pump module flange are clean. When installing fuel pump module, align locator tabs on fuel tank mounting flange. See Fig 3. Install fuel tank assembly. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
