Restraint Control Module: Removal

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. Deactivate air bag restraint system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS. Remove lower instrument panel cover. See Fig 1. Disconnect RCM electrical connector. Remove 3 RCM bracket retaining bolts and remove RCM and bracket assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure.
