Disassembly and Assembly

    WARNING: Always wear safety goggles when using a spring compressor. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
    NOTE: Do not use an impact wrench on the nut.
  1. Mount the strut and spring assembly in a suitable spring compressor.
  2. Compress the coil spring enough to relieve the tension on the strut assembly.
  3. Remove the strut piston rod-to-bushing nut.
    • To assemble, tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
  4. Remove the strut.
  5. Remove the lower coil spring insulator.
  6. Remove the coil spring.
  7. Remove the upper coil spring insulator.
  8. NOTE: During assembly, assemble the bearing plate to the strut so the arrow on the bearing plate points to the outboard side of the vehicle when the strut is installed.
  9. Remove the bearing plate.
  10. Remove the bearing.
  11. Remove the strut upper bushing.
  12. Remove the dust boot and the bumper.
  13. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
