Description & Operation: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Ford Thunderbird. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Thunderbird is equipped with a brake pedal-actuated hydraulic dual brake system. The system consists of front disc brake calipers, rear disc brake calipers, brake master cylinder, power brake booster, dual Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) components, brake tubes and brake hoses. The front and rear disc brakes consist of a full-cast vented front brake disc hydraulically-activated pin slider-type front disc brake caliper assemblies. Rear calipers include integral mechanically (cable) operated parking brake mechanisms. The dual ABS hydraulic system is diagonally split, with the left front and right rear making up one circuit and the right front and left rear making up the other circuit. For ABS diagnostics and repair, see appropriate Anti-Lock Brake/Traction Control article.
