Engine Code - Position 4

The 8th number in VIN is the engine displacement and number of cylinders code. Description is as follows:

B = 2.0L in-line four cylinder (Zetec).
D = 2.3L in-line four cylinder, EFI, Gas
E = 4.0L V6 SOHC, EFI.
F = 7.3L V8, Turbo-Diesel.
K = 4.0L V6 SOHC, EFI, Flex-Fuel.
L = 5.4L V8, SOHC, EFI, Gas.
M = 5.4L V8, SOHC, Natural Gas.
R = 5.4L 4V V8, DOHC, EFI, Gas (Blackwood & Navigator only).
S = 6.8L V10, SOHC, EFI, Gas.
T = 3.3L V6 SOHC, Gas.
U = 3.0L (OHV), V6 EFI.
V = 4.6L (DOHC), V8 EFI.
W = 4.6L (SOHC), V8 (Romeo) EFI, gasoline.
X = 4.6L (SOHC), V8 EFI.
Z = 5.4L V8 (F150 only), or 6.8L V10, (F250-550 only) Bi-Fuel.
1 = 3.0L (DOHC), V6 EFI.
2 = 4.2L V6, OHV, EFI, Gas.
3 = 5.4L V8 SOHC, Gas (Lightning - Supercharged).
4 = 3.8L (OHV), V6 EFI.
