Using NGS Tester

  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) or equivalent to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under instrument panel, to retrieve continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and run self test diagnostics.
  2. If self test passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to diagnostic symptoms table. See DIAGNOSTIC SYMPTOMS  table.
  3. If DTCs are retrieved, go to diagnostic trouble code identification table to continue diagnostics. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION  table.
  4. If Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) module cannot be accessed by NGS tester, go to TEST R: NO COMMUNICATION WITH ECS MODULE  under to continue diagnostics.
