Removal and Installation

NOTE:
The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON.
NOTE:
The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
- Remove the passenger seat. For additional information, refer to SEAT SYSTEM - SEATS -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Drill out the 2 rivets and remove the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- If installing a new OCSM, carry out the system reset procedure. For additional information, refer to OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR (OCS) SYSTEM RESET in the General Procedures portion of this service information.
NOTE:
Make sure to remove all metal chips from the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) and the surrounding areas after drilling out the rivets. Failure to follow this instruction may result in component damage and/or system failure.
