Main Control Valve Body: Installation

    NOTE: Inspect the solenoid valve body harness connector O-ring seal for damage. Install a new O-ring seal, if damaged, before installing the connector into the case.

  1. Push the solenoid valve body harness connector into the case.
  2. Connect the manual valve link to the main control valve body.

  3. Install the main control valve body and tighten the bolts in sequence as indicated.

  4. NOTE: The main control cover gasket is a reusable type. Inspect the gasket for damage. Install a new gasket as necessary.

  5. Install the main control cover gasket.
  6. NOTE: Install the cooler bypass valve studs in locations 3 and 11.

  7. Install the main control cover, and tighten the bolts in sequence as shown.
  8. Using a small amount of thread sealant on the threads, install the transaxle drain plug.

  9. Position the transmission fluid cooler tube in place and install the bolts.

  10. Install the lower radiator hose.

  11. Install the splash shield.

  12. Install the shift cable and bracket.

  13. Connect the shift cable.

  14. NOTE: Before installing the vent tube hose, clean out any obstructions in the hose using low air pressure.

  15. Install the vent tube hose to the fitting on the main control cover.
  16. Connect the transaxle harness connector, and the TR sensor connector.

  17. Install the battery tray bracket.

  18. Connect the wiring harness to the battery tray bracket.

  19. NOTE: Before installing the battery tray check the vent tube hose for any obstructions, kinks, or incorrect routing position.
  20. Install the battery tray and battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  21. Fill the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  22. NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms can occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 160 km (100 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
  23. Connect the battery cables.
  24. Check the transmission fluid, add fluid as necessary.
  25. Start the engine and move the transaxle range selector lever through all gear positions. Refill as necessary.
  26. Make sure the vehicle will only start in PARK, and then in NEUTRAL. Verify that the backup lamps illuminate in the REVERSE position.
