Normal Operation - Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Mercury Milan, 2010 Lincoln MKZ, and 2010 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) continuously monitors the input voltage for correct operation. If the OCSM detects input voltage below 8 volts, it will store DTC U3003:16 in memory. If the OCSM detects input voltage above 17.2 volts, it will store DTC U3003:17 in memory. If the OCSM sets DTC U3003:16 or U3003:17, it will send a fault message to the RCM . The RCM will then send a message to the IC module to illuminate the air bag warning indicator.
DTC DESCRIPTION CHART
| DTC Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|
|
If the RCM detects voltage below 9.5 volts with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) fault, it will set this DTC. |
|
If the RCM detects voltage above 16 volts with a SRS fault or above 20 volts without a SRS fault, it will set this DTC. |
|
If the OCSM detects voltage above 17.2 volts, it will set this DTC. |
|
If the OCSM detects voltage below 8 volts, it will set this DTC. |
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
