Speed Control Cable: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Marauder, 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis, and 2004 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis shown, Marauder is similar.
  1. Remove the nut and the engine cover.

  2. Position the air cleaner resonator aside
    1. Remove the nut.
    2. Position the air cleaner resonator aside.

  3. Remove the bolt and the speed control actuator cable from the throttle lever.

  4. Remove the speed control actuator cable cap from the speed control actuator.
    1. Push in the locking arm on the speed control actuator cable cap.
    2. Rotate the speed control actuator cable cap counterclockwise.

  5. Remove the speed control actuator cable from the speed control actuator pulley.
    1. Depress the spring retainer.
    2. Slide the core wire end out of the speed control actuator pulley and remove the speed control actuator cable.
