Pinpoint Test A: Gearshift Linkage Does Not Operate Freely

A1 CHECK GEARSHIFT LEVER 

• Disconnect the selector cable and the shift cable from the shifter assembly.
• Is the gearshift lever difficult to operate? 

Yes 

INSTALL a new shifter assembly. Refer to GEARSHIFT LEVER .

No 

GO to A2.

A2 CHECK THE SELECTOR CABLE AND THE SHIFT CABLE. 

• Attach the selector cable and the shift cable to the shifter assembly.
• Disconnect the selector cable and the shift cable from the transaxle.
• Is the gearshift lever difficult to operate? 

Yes 

INSTALL a new selector cable and a new shift cable. Refer to GEARSHIFT CABLES .

No 

There is a problem with the transaxle. Refer to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - IB5 .
