Cylinder Head - LH: Notes

MATERIAL SPECIFICATION

Item Specification
Super Premium SAE 5W-20 XO-5W20-QSP or equivalent WSS-M2C153-H
Motorcraft Silicone Gasket Remover ZC-30 -
Motorcraft Metal Surface Prep ZC-31 -
CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
  1. With the vehicle in neutral, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the lower intake manifold. For additional information, refer to LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD .
  3. Remove the LH exhaust manifold. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD - LH .
  4. Remove the push rods from the LH cylinder head. For additional information, refer to ROCKER ARMS, VALVE SPRINGS, PUSH RODS, VALVE TAPPETS .
  5. Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR .
  6. Remove the accessory drive belt idler pulley. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT, TENSIONER AND PULLEY .
  7. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration.

  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  9. NOTE: Tighten oil filter one-half turn after gasket makes contact with oil filter housing.
  10. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
