Pinpoint Test D: DTC B1484, Brake Pedal Input Open Circuit

Test Step 

Result / Action to Take 

  1. D1 CHECK THE STOPLAMPS FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Apply the brake pedal while checking the stoplamps.
    • Do the stop lamps illuminate? 
    1. Yes:  GO to D2.
    2. No:  REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
  2. D2 CHECK THE BRAKE PEDAL INPUT TO THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: ABS Module C135.
    • Measure the voltage between the ABS module C135 pin 6, circuit 511 (LG), harness side and ground, while applying and releasing the brake pedal.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts with the brake pedal applied and zero volts with the brake pedal released? 
    1. Yes:  GO to D3.
    2. No:  REPAIR circuit 511 (LG) and circuit 810 (RD/LG) as necessary. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. D3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the ABS connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the ABS connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes:  INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
