Pinpoint Test D: DTC B1484, Brake Pedal Input Open Circuit
Test Step
Result / Action to Take
- D1 CHECK THE STOPLAMPS FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Apply the brake pedal while checking the stoplamps.
- Do the stop lamps illuminate?
- Yes: GO to D2.
- No: REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
- D2 CHECK THE BRAKE PEDAL INPUT TO THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: ABS Module C135.
- Measure the voltage between the ABS module C135 pin 6, circuit 511 (LG), harness side and ground, while applying and releasing the brake pedal.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts with the brake pedal applied and zero volts with the brake pedal released?
- Yes: GO to D3.
- No: REPAIR circuit 511 (LG) and circuit 810 (RD/LG) as necessary. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- D3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect the ABS connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the ABS connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes: INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
