Torque Converter Leak Check
- Clean the outside surface of the torque converter.
- Install the special tool into the converter hub.
- Position the torque converter with the installed special tool into an arbor press. Secure the press. Apply enough force from the press to seal the tool into the torque converter.
- Using the special tool, apply air pressure to the valve.
- With the special tool installed and air pressure applied to the valve on the special tool, inspect for leaks at the converter hub, seams and studs. A soap bubble solution may be applied around those areas to aid in diagnosis. If any leaks are present, install a new or remanufactured torque converter.
- Remove the air hose. Release the pressure and then slowly release the press. Remove the torque converter. Remove the tool.
WARNING:
Always follow correct safety procedures while using a press to avoid personal injury.
