Pinpoint Test G: No Communication With The Variable Assist Power Steering (VAPS) Module

  1. G1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE VAPS MODULE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: VAPS Module C2231b.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the VAPS module C2231b, harness side and ground of the following:
      PINOUT REFERENCE

      Pin Circuit
      C2231b-1 418 (DG/YE)
      C2231b-7 418 (DG/YE)
      C2231b-2 298 (VT/OG)
    • Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to  G2.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuits in question. REPEAT the self-test.
  2. G2 CHECK THE VAPS MODULE GROUND 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: VAPS Module C2231b.
    • Measure the resistance between the VAPS module C2231b-12, circuit 676 (PK/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
