Test Procedures
- DP1 DTC P0500: CHECK FOR TCM DTCS
- Carry out the TCM self-test.
Are any TCM DTCs present?
Yes No DISREGARD the current diagnostic trouble code (DTC) at this time. ADDRESS the next DTC. GO to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHARTS AND DESCRIPTIONS . GO to DP2 - DP2 CHECK FOR CORRECT TIRE SIZE AND INFLATION
- Verify the correct tire size and inflation.
Are the tire size and inflation OK?
Yes No GO to DP3. REPAIR as necessary. - DP3 CHECK FOR ABS DTCS
- Check the ABS module for wheel speed sensor DTCs.
Are any ABS DTCs present?
Yes No REFER to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL - ESCAPE & MARINER to diagnose the wheel speed sensor DTCs. GO to DP4. - DP4 CHECK FOR CORRECT TRACTION MOTOR RPM DURING THE ROAD TEST
- Access the freeze frame data (if available) and record the DTC malfunction conditions.
- Access the TCM and monitor the M_SPEED and VSS PIDs.

- Refer to the table above VEHICLE SPEED AND TRACTION MOTOR RPM SPECIFICATIONS .
Does the traction motor RPM correspond with the vehicle speed?
Yes No GO to DP5. GO to Pinpoint Test TP . - DP5 CHECK FOR CORRECT GENERATOR RPM
- Access the TCM and monitor the RPM and G_SPEED PIDs.
ENGINE AND GENERATOR MOTOR RPM SPECIFICATIONSEngine RPM Generator Motor RPM 0 0 800 2,715 1,000 3,394 1,200 4,073 1,400 4,752 1,600 5,430 1,800 6,109 2,000 6,788 - Place the gear selector lever in PARK.
- Start the engine using the engine running diagnostic mode. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC MODES .
- Refer to the table above ENGINE AND GENERATOR MOTOR RPM SPECIFICATIONS .
Does the generator RPM correspond with the engine RPM?
Yes No GO to DP6. GO to TO2. - DP6 CLEAR PCM DTCS
- Clear the PCM DTCs.
- Road test the vehicle.
- Repeat the KOEO and KOER self-tests and retrieve the continuous memory DTCs.
Are any DTCs present?
Yes No DISREGARD the current diagnostic trouble code (DTC) at this time. ADDRESS the next DTC. GO to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHARTS AND DESCRIPTIONS . Test complete.
