Pinpoint Test J: The Liftgate Window Glass Does Not Release Using The Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter
- J1 VERIFY CORRECT OPERATION OF THE LIFTGATE WINDOW GLASS RELEASE FUNCTION
- Operate the liftgate window glass release using the liftgate window glass release switch.
- Does the liftgate window glass release correctly?
- Yes
: GO to J2.
- No
: To diagnose the inoperative liftgate window glass release, GO to PINPOINT TEST I .
- J2 CHECK THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER INPUT TO THE VEHICLE SECURITY MODULE
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Vehicle Security Module PID.
- Monitor the Vehicle Security Module REMOTE TRANSMITTER LIFTGATE WINDOW GLASS RELEASE PIDs while pressing the RKE transmitter liftgate window glass release button.
- Do the PID values agree with the button presses?
- Yes
: GO to J5.
- No
: GO to J3.
- J3 CHECK THE RKE TRANSMITTER BATTERY
- Using a thin coin, open the RKE transmitter.
- Do not clean off any grease from the battery terminal on the back of the circuit board.
- Verify the correct battery is being used (CR2032).
- Remove the RKE transmitter battery and measure the voltage.
- Is the voltage greater than 2.5 volts?
- Yes
: GO to J4.
- No
: INSTALL a new RKE transmitter battery. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- J4 CHECK THE TRANSMITTER IDENTIFICATION CODE (TIC)/DATA FOR A TIC MATCH
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Vehicle Security Module PID.
- Monitor the Vehicle Security Module LAST TIC RECEIVED PID while pressing and releasing the RKE transmitter lock and unlock buttons.
- Does TIC under LAST TIC RECEIVED match TIC 1, TIC 2, TIC 3, or TIC 4?
- Yes
: GO to J5.
- No
: PROGRAM all the RKE transmitters. REFER to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. If the RKE transmitter is still not working, replace the RKE transmitter. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- J5 CHECK FOR CORRECT VEHICLE SECURITY MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all the vehicle security module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the vehicle security module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes
: INSTALL a new vehicle security module. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES
. PROGRAM all the RKE transmitters. REFER to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING . INFORM the customer that any transmitters not present will need to be programmed. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No
: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
