Pinpoint Test K: The Air Suspension Control Module Does Not Respond To The Diagnostic Tool
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Lincoln Navigator and 2005 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- K1 CHECK THE AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL MODULE C2324B (EXPEDITION) OR C2131B (NAVIGATOR) FOR DAMAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Air Suspension Control Module C2324b (Expedition).
- Disconnect: Air Suspension Control Module C2131b (Navigator).
- Inspect the air suspension control module C2324b (Expedition) or C2131b (Navigator) for damage.
- Is the air suspension control module C2324b (Expedition) or C2131b (Navigator) OK?
- Yes : GO to K2.
- No : REPAIR the air suspension control module C2324b (Expedition) or C2131b (Navigator). CARRY OUT the data link diagnostics test.
- K2 CHECK CIRCUITS 2180 (WH/BK) AND 2181 (BK/YE) BETWEEN THE AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL MODULE C2324B (EXPEDITION) OR C2131B (NAVIGATOR) AND THE DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC) C251 FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the air suspension control module C2324b pin 10 (Expedition) or C2131b pin 11 (Navigator), circuit 2180 (WH/BK), harness side and the DLC C251 pin 3, circuit 2180 (WH/BK), harness side.
- Measure the resistance between the air suspension control module C2324b pin 11 (Expedition) or C2131b pin 12 (Navigator), circuit 2181 (BK/YE), harness side and the DLC C251 pin 11, circuit 2181 (BK/YE), harness side.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to K3.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CARRY OUT the data link diagnostics test.
- K3 CHECK FOR CORRECT AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all the air suspension control module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the air suspension control module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new air suspension control module. REFER to VEHICLE DYNAMIC SUSPENSION . CLEAR the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). REPEAT the self-test. CARRY OUT the data link diagnostics test.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. CARRY OUT the data link diagnostics test.
